  • My Class Needs 3Doodler Pens and Arduino Coding Kits to simulate medieval armory & weapons

    Launched October 26th, 2017 Project Deadline January 30th, 2018
Classroom Size 25 Students School Size 1500 Students

    My Students

We have a Grade 8 POD group that consists of 2 classes of 25 students. Each class attends the academic classes together. Their flexible schedule allows them to work on STEM projects that requires them to use their knowledge and skills from all disciplines that will align with the new BC curriculum. In addition, the Grade 11 & 12 students from Technology Ed and Home Economics courses will be mentoring the 2 classes with designing, prototyping, creating and testing their products.

How will this project impact them?

The 3Doodler pens and Coding Kit will give students the opportunity to create products that can perform a function by integrating Humanities, Science, Math, Technology Ed & Home Economics. Students will see the applications of content material in the real world & in real time. With the 3Doodler pen, the students will have the ability to 3D print any structural frame/part & tailor each device easily to a unique design & function. We will be using the resources for the Medieval Unit where the students will be creating or replicating weapons and armory with modern technology in order to simulate a war-like scenario on a model scale. The students will use coding to animate the weapons ie. catapults. The students will also be using the 3Doodler pens to create the landscape for their setting. Being engaged in this project, will also increase students' soft-skills for their future workplace.
