    My Students

Lynn Valley School has students from grades K-7 who come from all walks of life. They are enthusiastic, caring and inquisitive children who enjoy hands-on learning and have a passion for technology. Right now they are challenged by a new curriculum area focused on technology, but have few resources available to them. We have a very successful technology club that meets at lunch hours, who are up for further challenges, and who also love to mentor other students in the area of technology and design.

How will this project impact them?

Sphero has the ability to be operated by remote control or be programmed. Our goal is for students to grow their skills and abilities with regards to robotics and coding while continuing to use a familiar robot. Should this campaign be successful, our kids will have a shared resource that will help them develop the ability to write code. We hope to bridge the gap between coding with blocks (ie. Scratch) and the ability to write code by using the 3 different input methods available with the Sphero. In the short term, our students will be able to become acquainted with controlling the the Sphero directly; in the long term they will be able to grow this ability into a skill to independently write code using Oval. Because this resource will be shared by many classes, it will benefit all students at Lynn Valley School. It will make a huge difference in our students' lives.
