  • My Class Needs robotics resources and manipulatives to engage and enhance theoretical learning

    Launched October 25th, 2017 Project Deadline January 30th, 2018
Classroom Size 21 Students School Size 525 Students

    My Students

Students who will benefit include those who are: taking computer science, involved in our robotics club, taking design tech, physics, communications tech, and those who utilize our maker space. Our students are experiential learners but we do not have the same access to technology as other schools in our board. The playing field is not equitable in our board-as a small, northern, older school, we don’t have the same opportunity to fully realize the modern classroom due to budgetary constraints.

How will this project impact them?

The students will use the resources we purchase with the grant monies to augment a start-up robotics program at school which has cross-over applications to many of our tech classes. We aim to build capacity in our learners in aspects of STEM through access to robotics resources in tech classes. The biggest change for students will be access to up-to-date manipulatives which will allow for more real-world applications. This will allow students to participate in proper field testing and development. In the short-term we know this will benefit the robotics team as they will be able to participate in a full design process including mock-ups and testing. Long-term our desire is to continue to build an interest in STEM related activities as well as possible career paths as having this technology we will have a tangible path from theory to application.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the costs of fulfilling the project, including purchasing and coordinating the delivery of classroom resources. This also supports the processing of thank-you cards and pictures from teachers and students to donors, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation to My Class Needs:  An optional donation to support My Class Needs calculated at 15% of your donation. This gift to the charity, which you can opt out of during the donation process, supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. Please note that project resources are not withheld if this amount is not raised.
