  • My Class Needs Pasco Probeware to perform more experiments.

    My Students

Carson Graham Secondary is a public school located in North Vancouver, with approximately 1350 students. We have a diverse student population with students representing over 40 countries and nations. Students in my classes have a wide range of learning styles. The students these resources will specifically help are students are in both senior and junior science classes where the ability to actually do hands on experiments really deepens their connection to the material.

How will this project impact them?

Performing science in a modern lab is a highly technological process and requires a deep familiarity with the technology used for collecting and interpreting data. The sensors requested will connect to students' laptops (or school computers) and allow realtime collection and visualization of scientific data, leading to a deeper understanding of the role that technology plays in modern science. Understanding the relationships between pressure, temperature and volume is a fundamental part of understanding the Kinetic Molecular Theory, and leads to many deeper connections in both chemistry and physics. Students will use the probeware requested here to collect their own data while investigating the gas laws experimentally. Access to this probeware will also allow students to seek answers to their own for a more diverse set of inquiry paths than is currently available in my classroom.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the costs of fulfilling the project, including purchasing and coordinating the delivery of classroom resources. This also supports the processing of thank-you cards and pictures from teachers and students to donors, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation to My Class Needs:  An optional donation to support My Class Needs calculated at 15% of your donation. This gift to the charity, which you can opt out of during the donation process, supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. Please note that project resources are not withheld if this amount is not raised.

I have been teaching at Carson Graham for 9 years, during which time I have had the pleasure to teach a wide variety of Science and Math courses ranging from 8th grade to 12 grade. I am always looking for ways to increase student engagement with the wonders of physics and math.
