  • My Class Needs surfacepro to Help students to learn math

    Launched November 6th, 2017 Project Deadline January 30th, 2018
Classroom Size 30 Students School Size 1470 Students

    My Students

Students in my classes from grades 8 to 12 will benefit from this project. I have 150 students in my five math classes, but the number of students that will benefit will includes any student in our school that is taking math. We have a very strong math culture in our school where students are very passionate about problem solving and doing math contest problems. I have 2 math honours classes from grades 9 to 11 and many of them plan to become engineers or go into fields that requires math.

How will this project impact them?

Our Math Department has created a website for students to share their work and solutions online, build practice quizzes, and to display their projects for other to see. The website is www.bcmath.ca. The goal is to build and support an online learning community that will supplement their in-class education. We are requesting for a Surface pro that will make it easier for students to build these resources. The Surface pro will give students the ability to write their work on it, upload it online, and then allow students to communicate their work with each other. We want to build a collaborative environment that empowers students to learn from one another without the confinements of the classroom. Also giving students a sense of ownership and team work as they share they ideas with each other. Students from different classes, grades, schools, or even districts. This is because there are a lot of students from other districts using our resources.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
