  • My Class Needs bird brain robotics to explore mechatronics.

Mechatronics Classroom Project at Berkshire Park Elementary
    Launched October 27th, 2017 Project Deadline March 26th, 2018
Classroom Size 30 Students School Size 432 Students

    My Students

My class is a multiage classroom. It ranges from grades 3-7. My students have been designated gifted or in the process of receiving an IEP for Giftedness. Their interest are learning how to use tech effectively in the real world. Students realize that tech has been on a plateau of consumption. Tech is rarely used to solve real world problem in the classroom. The students are aware of the complex world they live in and would like to design solutions for problems that have not been invented.

How will this project impact them?

Students are working on designing robots that solve problems that humans have a hard time overcoming. My class has been concerned with what has happened in Puerto Rico. They have been researching the causes and issues pertaining providing aid to areas that have been destroyed by natural disasters. Two questions they are exploring this year. 1. How can we create a sustainable environment that can withstand climate change? 2. When natural disasters happen, how can we use robotics to provide resources to those who are difficult to reach? Students would like to explore the realm of Mechatronics and Design to help them investigate these questions. The goal for the class is for students to combine, Engineering, Robotics, Architecture, Sustainability, together to solve their questions. By the end of the the year, students will present their findings and solutions in a design fair.
