  • My Class Needs machining / engineering equipment to keep step with students' growing skills

    Launched October 17th, 2017 Project Deadline January 30th, 2018
Classroom Size 168 Students School Size 1326 Students

    My Students

The students using the equipment are between grades 8-12. These students are often getting their first opportunities to put their hands on tools, machines, and equipment in this high school shop. They share with me great excitement describing future career hopes, and goals, related to their hands-on projects while problem solving in the shop. The requested equipment expands the capabilities of the students while they pursue project of interest, and develop life long experiences and skills.

How will this project impact them?

This project is important for the students because it would provide them with tools and equipment capable of fabricating projects not currently available to them. My intention is to teach students real-world practical applications of engineering, and metal fabrication. In doing so, students will be faced with projects that force them to work through situations demanding critical thinking, problem solving, and team work. If this campaign is successful the equipment would spark the excitement and imaginations of the students, immediately triggering a flood of possible uses for themselves. I have always tried to create a work space with no limitation for what the students could build, pursue, and learn from. Once a student is excited and turned onto an idea, the benefit of quickly getting on task is so valuable for maintaining their motivation, and the learning takes care of itself.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
