  • My Class Needs robotics kits to gain confidence in computer technology.

    Launched October 17th, 2017 Project Deadline January 30th, 2018
Classroom Size 26 Students School Size 900 Students

    My Students

The students who will benefit from this robotics project are Grade 11 and 12 students at Galt C.I. & V.S. They are from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds and we also have a large ESL population. We do our best to attract young women to our computer technology program so hopefully it will be mix of males and females in the class, learning in a hands-on way about robotics technology while earning credits in Computer Technology (TEJ3MI and TEJ4MI).

How will this project impact them?

The students will use the LEGO EV3 robotics kits to gain hands-on experience building, programming, and testing robots. We hope to give them a taste of robotics so they might consider pursuing a related field in post-secondary education and for a career. We also want them all, males and females, to gain confidence working with robotics technology - to demystify the tech and to make it more accessible to all students. We want them to learn to safely construct robotic devices from components and to give appropriate coded instructions to these devices using computer logic and problem-solving skills. We hope they will gain a sense of accomplishment and excellence from starting with an initial situation and some electronic components, and developing a robotic device that performs a specific task.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation to My Class Needs:  An optional donation to support My Class Needs calculated at 15% of your donation. This gift to the charity, which you can opt out of during the donation process, supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. Please note that project resources are not withheld if this amount is not raised.
