  • My Class Needs gardening resources to learn about sustainability.

    Launched October 25th, 2017 Project Deadline January 30th, 2018
Classroom Size 170 Students School Size 1326 Students

    My Students

Our school has over 1300 grade 8-12 students. The programs that draw students into our doors, include our Wings program for high special needs, French Immersion, International Exchange and Journeys for those who struggle in a regular classroom. This diversity can be seen in our hallways and classrooms and creates a challenging teaching environment. This project will give valuable skills to all levels and students can take away usable information that will help to build a more sustainable earth.

How will this project impact them?

Our school garden has been in place for 5 years and is used by variety of classes and community members. It is well built, secured and fruitful. Students will continue to learn about how to grow and use plants in the kitchen, for well-being and utilize them for medicinal purposes. The resources from this project will allow us to begin plants indoors, create appropriate environments for pollinators, monitor soil and weather conditions and properly care for our plants. Students in our science and foods classes will be responsible for growing and planting, as well as monitoring and testing soil. They will also work with our shop classes to build homes for pollinators. The garden is a beautiful spot that is admired by our students, staff and community members. It is a very important teaching tool that will empower students to learn about sustainable practices and the beauty of life.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
