  • My Class Needs manipulatives and hands on resources to enhance STEM learning

    Launched October 13th, 2017 Project Deadline December 31st, 2017
Classroom Size 22 Students School Size 472 Students

    My Students

My Grade 3/4 students are an inquisitive, creative and energetic group of children. They are a diverse group with varying backgrounds, abilities, needs and learning styles. They have wonderful imaginations and creative ideas. Many of them thrive when we do STEM activities because they are hands-on learners who enjoy building and creating. Many of them enjoy working collaboratively with others in a group and for others, this is out of their comfort zone.

How will this project impact them?

Learning can come to life when students learn with their hands and touch and feel objects while learning. This is specially the case for those who are kinaesthetic and visual learners who need to touch and see. These resources will allow for lots of individual, small group and large group activities. Many of the resources will be used for collaboration between students. Every week we have STEM challenges where students work individually or in groups and design, create and build based on a science, technology, engineering or math activity. The manipulatives will also benefit them when they have free time; when it's a more unstructured period to explore and experiment. For many of my students, STEM is new to them, and these resources will help students learn in a different, exciting and fun way!

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
