  • My Class Needs equipment to explore futuristic cars and forensics!

    Launched October 13th, 2017 Project Deadline January 30th, 2018
Classroom Size 120 Students School Size 1326 Students

    My Students

I teach Chemistry 11 and 12 and Science and Technology 11. Maple Ridge Secondary has a wide range of students, and while hands on learning will benefit all of them, it will particularly help the students that need to see or experience something to understand it. The Science and Technology class is especially focused on hands on learning, with a focus this year on design and build challenges. These students need to learn in hands on ways rather than traditional written type of learning.

How will this project impact them?

We will look at alternative methods of transportation from either a technology and design and build point of view or a chemical point of view, depending on the class. This will allow students to understand both design and engineering challenges as well as the chemistry behind how solar cars and hydrogen fuel cells cars work. The forensics kits will allow us to apply logic and reasoning skills to real world situations.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.

Disclaimer: MyClassNeeds (MCN ) is the charitable affiliate of Curriculum Services Canada (CSC). MCN and CSC do not endorse or promote any particular supplier, product, or service requested by the teachers through our online crowdfunding platform. MCN assesses every project to ensure that the requested resources represent the most economical and impactful approach to enriching students’ learning experience.

MCN will contact the school administrator associated with the specific project and ensure that the administrator has given approval to the project to go ahead and that the resources requested meet the fundraising guidelines within their province, board or district and school.

MCN will seek competitive prices from various suppliers to ensure the best possible price for the materials and services. Where available, MCN may (at our discretion) suggest lower-cost alternatives that may accomplish the same project goals. Our suggestion of an alternate option is not an endorsement by either MCN or CSC of the supplier, product or service and the final decision on the choice of resource is made by the teacher(s) themselves.
