  • My Class Needs levers, pulleys, wedges and keva planks to explore building machines in science

    Launched October 12th, 2017 Project Deadline January 10th, 2018
Classroom Size 23 Students School Size 1 Students

    My Students

The class of grades 4 and 5 are diverse, energetic, and are fascinated with the world around them, particularly curious about science. Several students have difficulties with learning, written output, attention and focus. As a result, students need to discover science by doing experiments, asking questions, working together, and learn and share with one another, while the teacher will act as a facilitator. By touching, trying, manipulating science, their knowledge will develop.

How will this project impact them?

With the requested resources, students will tangibly develop scientific questions as related to the science curriculum; machines are devices that transfer force and energy. Students will cooperatively design projects, make predictions and inferences and reflect on whether their investigations were fair tests. My goal as their teacher is to engage my students with science concepts by allowing them to touch, play, experiment and work together. When students are engaged with their learning at school it will positively impact their sense of curiosity and their creative and critical thinking abilities.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
