  • My Class Needs a drone to explore the advancement of drone tech

Flying 101, Drone Technology Exploration Classroom Project at Burnaby South Secondary
    Launched November 6th, 2017 Project Deadline April 5th, 2018
Classroom Size 25 Students School Size 1700 Students

    My Students

Our technology students ( Grade 9 -12 ) and the school's robotic club have expressed a great interest in learning more about the fast growing technology of drones. These students want to understand this technology inside out... the design, the R/C unit, gyro technology and the gimbal camera. We current have a first generation drone on loan. This technology is advancing so rapidly that students appreciate the opportunity to work with drones, helpful for their future educational lives.

How will this project impact them?

As a drone enthusiast, it is my hope that my students will develop an understanding of the drone technology that will surrounds them in the future. I plan to use this resource for several different units where students will learn how drone operates. When the students are proficient in operating the drone, they will collaborate with the science department and the photography department. The goal would be to allow students to see how drone technology can be use for different applications. This resource offer students a chance to display their technological creativity, show understanding to how things work and enhance their technological education. This supports the ADST (Applied Design Skills and Technology) of the new BC curriculum. Many of the students will have the opportunity to access this technology.
