  • My Class Needs Spheros to be creative, innovative C21st learners

    Launched October 12th, 2017 Project Deadline January 10th, 2018
Classroom Size 30 Students School Size 331 Students

    My Students

My class is keen to use current technology and wants to connect it to their learning within the classroom. Students use technology as tools to bridge the cultural and learning diversities within their learning community. There is approximately 85% who are learning English as an additional language, approximately 25% who have been designated as requiring additional services, and several others who need various types of support to maintain success within the classroom.

How will this project impact them?

The students thrive in a hands-on, experiential learning environment which meets the diverse needs of all students. The students in our school can all benefit from using sphero app-controlled robots. They would be used in different classrooms to learn STEM principles using robotics and coding. Spheros can be used at many skill levels which provide differentiation within the learning environment immediately. Spheres offer the students hands-on experiences that ignite students’ curiosity, while enhancing their skills in science, engineering, technology, and coding which connects to BC's new curriculum and the 6 core competencies. Through this promotion of STEM, my students will develop the skills to be innovative and imaginative thinkers. They will develop the skills to confidently ask questions, define problems, and design solutions. My students' excitement and responsiveness to engineering will percolate to other classrooms through a mentorship/leadership program with younger students. Student confidence, social responsibility, and personal awareness and awareness of others will all increase.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
