    My Students

We are 2Co, The Lab class,@ Ralph McCall School. Our mission is to focus our learning using a STEAM based approach, which means we explore every subject by integrating Science, Tech, Engineering, Art, and Math. Since the Lab students have a passion for an area in the sciences, demonstrate great creativity and curiosity, the challenge is always to push beyond the basics. We love the amazing projects are coming this year! However, we need your help!

How will this project impact them?

Our inquiry projects are often constructed out of recycled materials, especially cardboard, to keep costs down as well as preserve the environment. But, cutting cardboard and plastic can be tricky. Our school kid scissors just can't handle some of the thicker stuff. Of course, utility blades are dangerous. Worse yet, it takes a lot of tape to join pieces together. Our first project, a helium balloon 'drone', was amazing to design but frustrating to build. The MakeDo company created simple child safe fasteners and tools designed especially for cardboard construction such as plastic screws, hinges, cardboard cutters, and screwdrivers. It means we can safely attach two pieces of cardboard for a fort wall, for example. Neater than glue, safer than staples, sturdier than tape, and less waste! We tear down projects at the end and upcycle the pieces for the next engineering challenge.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
