    My Students

Cultural Journeys is a Squamish Nation language and culture focused school of choice. Students who attend this school are interested in learning more about their culture. Everything we do is done with the cultural lens in mind. Many of the students at this school don't have access to technology at home and much of the technology in the school is very outdated. The students in this class are a part of curriculum design and have expressed an interest in learning more about coding.

How will this project impact them?

Coding resources from Wintergreen such as the Sphero robots are tangible learning tools that students can use to experiment with. Experimenting and learning at their own pace is an area in which these students are familiar with and excel at. The big idea of this project is to allow the students to learn how to code by working together to try and solve problems. By participating in this project the students will learn both how to begin to code as well as develop their problem solving skills. It is important to learn the skill of experimenting with technology and not giving up until you accomplish the task you set out to. These resources will be shared with the whole school and these older students intend on using them to teach the younger students to code. By obtaining these resources the students in this school will learn how to troubleshoot their own technology problems.
