  • My Class Needs cubelets, and ipads to learn to code and use robots

    Launched September 11th, 2017 Project Deadline January 10th, 2018
Classroom Size 25 Students School Size 407 Students

    My Students

I have a grade 3/4 class that is culturally diverse with many students learning English as a second language, including new refugee families. May parents do not speak English and our school is in a lower economic area so fundraising is difficult and many students do not have opportunities to use technology in their homes. We have many special needs students in our school and the use of technology provides opportunities for them to integrate more successfully completing classroom projects while working with peers.

How will this project impact them?

Students will Use Cubelets, bricktek and an iPad to build a variety of robots and code them. They will complete a series of challenges using the cubelet sensors and also work with them in open ended freestyle building. We will have a lunch hour makerspace club as well to allow more students to learn coding. The short term benefits would include the ability for all students to participate fully, solve problems and be successful with the support of each other and the teacher. Working together builds confidence, and allows students to build on their strengths while supporting and learning from others. Long term benefits include learning to code, logistics, developing critical thinking and creative skills.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds.
