  • My Class Needs MY class needs IPads to access modern learning opportunities in all curriculum areas.

IPads for Learning Classroom Project at Hillside School
    Launched October 9th, 2017 Project Deadline March 23rd, 2018
Classroom Size 20 Students School Size 160 Students

    My Students

This is a class of 20 Indigenous children who attend our First Nations Elementary School. Typically, First Nations schools are underfunded, and thus we have not been able to fully support learning via updated technology. Our children learn best via hands-on, active learning, visual stimulation and modern learning opportunities, all of which could be provided via a class set of IPads, connector cords and an IPad storage-charging cart. Programs in all subject areas could be opened to the children, via these IPads, thus providing full connections to curriculum, increased enjoyment and access to modern learning.

How will this project impact them?

IPads will meet the new methods of teaching and learning, will involve the children in interactive participation, and will bring NEW technology to our school. With IPads our students will have increased opportunities for learning and will enter into a new era of technology, which is already upon us, but to which we currently have limited access. Many of our First Nations children and their families do not have access to computers, iPads and other home devices, creating a barrier to education. In the long term, our children will be increasingly prepared for on going education at the secondary and post secondary levels, and thus increased work opportunities in the local and wider community, and reduced unemployment in our First Nations community. .
