  • My Class Needs an Ozobot to code and improve problem solving skills

    Launched August 8th, 2017 Project Deadline January 10th, 2018
Classroom Size 24 Students School Size 165 Students

    My Students

My class is a diverse, energetic, and curious group of grade 3/4 students. These students come from a wide range of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as a high number of English Language Learners who are new to Canada, students with special needs, and students below and above grade level. These students prefer different learning styles, including visual, auditory, verbal, and kinesthetic. However, they all have one thing in common; they love to learn by using technology!

How will this project impact them?

I want to improve my students problem solving and computational skills through the use of technology, more specifically coding. Coding is a subject that is new to the BC Curriculum and is embedded within each grade level. I feel it is important for my students to learn the basic coding skills because it is necessary for their future and education. Students will use the Ozobot to learn hands-on about robotics and programming while working on STEM applications and challenges. The Ozobot will teach them to learn in a way that is fun, engaging, and allows them to play at the same time. Once my students have had the opportunity to learn and play around with the Ozobot, my goal for them will be to create their own playgrounds and share their work with their peers and parents. Many of these students do not have access to an Ozobot at home and I want them to have this experience.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
