  • My Class Needs reading materials and hands-on materials to demonstrate curiosity about the world.

    Launched July 11th, 2017 Project Deadline January 10th, 2018

    My Students

The Grade 2/3 students at Prince Charles Elementary are a curious group of learners with a very diverse cultural background. Most of the students are ELL learners, and while the use of books with pictures and simple texts will allow them to activate prior- and background knowledge, the hands-on building materials will allow them to make predictions, investigate, and experiment in an environment where each idea is celebrated. Through curiosity and sense of wonder they will enhance their learning.

How will this project impact them?

Students will activate prior and background knowledge through stories, make predictions and test their hypothesis, using unique building supplies in various configurations in an open-ended style of learning. Exploratory and discovery building materials allow children to practice thinking like builders, scientists, engineers and architects.Investigating the use of ramps, stands, and spheres helps us to reinforce our knowledge of forces, motion, gravity, and friction through our very own practices. Creative building experiences help learners grow with hands-on, creative, cooperative, and understand concepts such as shape, weight, size, texture, balance, and height while creating familiar, well-known, or imagined structures. Students will demonstrate curiosity and a sense of wonder about the world and safely manipulate materials to test ideas to test ideas and predictions.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
