    My Students

We have 200 students from JK to grade 8 at our school. I am very fortunate, as my role as Learning Resource Teacher allows me the opportunity to visit and support all of the classrooms at our school. Our students have a variety of learning profiles and are some of the most respectful and dedicated students that I have ever met! As a staff we are constantly exploring ways that we can provide our students with meaningful, inspiring and authentic learning.

How will this project impact them?

We'd like to create a space where students are free to imagine, explore, produce, communicate, invent, learn, create and think critically. By creating a makerspace within our learning commons, we will be providing students a safe environment to take ownership of their learning and deepen their thinking through innovation, curiosity, problem solving, decision making and perservance. What is a makerspace?  "It is a place for everyone creative and not creative to come and explore their passions using raw materials, tools, technology, repurposed items and imagination. People can work individually or collaboratively using technology and drawing on the collective wisdom of those in the room to help achieve their goal in a makerspace."(Teacher Librarian,2014)
