  • My Class Needs Robots and coding technology to Engage in STEM learning.

    Launched May 30th, 2017 Project Deadline October 27th, 2017
Classroom Size 30 Students School Size 435 Students

    My Students

My Students Class composition consists of 30 grade 6 students. We are a community consisting of a high number of English Language learners. There are many immigrant students in my class. Because English language skills are a challenge for many, experiential and hands on learning are essential to success for my students. I want to improve students problem solving and computational skills using technology to encourage their learning. Coding is a subject that every student needs to learn the basic of. Students are interested in technology and the use of technology is necessary in their future educational lives.

How will this project impact them?

I plan to use these resources in creating a variety of robotics and coding stations. Students will learn to code robots to demonstrate a basic understanding of programming and how things can move. This is a basic STEM skill that is beneficial in helping students learn problem solving skills. Students can use Little bits to engage in STEM learning and coding through creating fun inventions. These resources offer students a chance to display their technological creativity, show understanding to how things work and enhance their technological education. This supports the ADST (Applied Design Skills and Technology) of the new BC curriculum.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
