Physical Activity for Youth in Addictions Treatment Classroom Project at Rosemount Public School
    Launched June 15th, 2017 Project Deadline November 12th, 2017

    My Students

Our students are aged 14-19 and are currently accessing addiction treatment (rehab). Many come from difficult family situations and are struggling with mental health issues. However, they are seeking and desiring change for themselves and are motivated and engaged in our program. Each student works on an individualized learning plan that takes into account the whole student. Part of this is completing a PhysEd/Fitness credit to improve overall health and sustainable change.

How will this project impact them?

The money raised through this project would be used to pay for continued Crossfit classes for our amazing youth. We started Crossfit this year using limited funds from the treatment agency and the kids LOVE it!!! They were very reluctant initially and many refused to participate-it was a huge struggle. However, as a community of amazingly strong youth-they have now come to a point where they look forward to Crossfit days. They have seen changes in their physical bodies and are enjoying the improvements in overall strength and ability. They have truly conquered something that they felt was not possible and what better lesson is there for someone who is trying to "conquer" addiction. We have an amazing coach and they have offered our students FREE summer memberships. We would love to access this again next year-but our funds are limited and we are not able to pay for the entire year.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
