  • My Class Needs Dash and Dots to Engage all students in math and coding

    Launched May 16th, 2017 Project Deadline January 10th, 2018
Classroom Size 30 Students School Size 500 Students

    My Students

We are a school that is using technology in many ways. Many students are involved in after school programs like dance and hockey. We are making use of chromebooks as well as ipads and would like to incorporate more things like robotics into our math as this is what will likely be involved in many future jobs. Our students enjoy using these items but there are often not many robotics items in the school .This means that likely 5 or more students are using one dash and dot.

How will this project impact them?

This will be used by the entire junior division of more than 4 classes. Students will hopefully improve their logic and reasoning skills as well as their mathematical reasoning. Long term we are hoping this helps students with future jobs and reasoning. Short term we would like to see this impact girls and perhaps other students who may not have felt like coding or robotics was for them. We want to engage various populations like girls and boys who may have learning issues who may not always be represented in either the math or robotics fields. We also hope to use our lessons to develop a resource to help future teachers use robotics in their classrooms.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.
