  • My Class Needs STEAM & STEM Kits to become 21st century learners!

    Launched April 18th, 2017 Project Deadline August 31st, 2017

    My Students

We want to turn our library into more of a STEM and STEAM place! We are doing so already with activities but would like to kick it up a notch with some kits. All students from K - 5 in our school will participate in this and we think giving our students these experiences to problem solve and persevere are skills that will affect their learning in a very positive way.

How will this project impact them?

Connecting the disciplines for students opens the door to more meaningful curriculum that is relevant to the century in which they will live. If you have a problem to solve and you go to the Internet, you move seamlessly to and through whatever area can provide the relevant information, regardless of whether it's a math area, a science area, and so on. That's the way 21st-century businesses solve problems, too. Whatever works. So why teach students that science only answers this type of question and mathematics only solves that kind of problem?

    Project Report

    from Ms. Walker

Wow! The new STEM equipment is being used by all the classes! We have started the year with the STEM equipment as a way to encourage teamwork and collaboration. It worked! Kids were engaged, excited, and working together to solve the problem and the challenges that the STEM equipment provided. We have seen students approach problems that have come up in other subjects using the STEM framework, which we pre-taught before the students began to use the equipment.
