  • My Class Needs a guided reading table to help them succeed at reading in a small group setting!

    Launched May 9th, 2013 Project Deadline October 7th, 2013
Classroom Size 30 Students School Size 700 Students

    My Students

Our school will be transitioning to the Full Day - Early Learning Kindergarten Program (ELKP) starting September 2013. There will be approximately 30 Junior and Senior Kindergarten students in my class, with various needs and skills. Each student is encouraged to strive to do their best, learning through play and working co-operatively to achieve their full potential.

How will this project impact them?

Reading and writing are two very important skills that need to be taught from the early years in school. When my students enter Kindergarten, I want to make learning fun and engaging. This table will allow me to sit in front of a small group of students to read on a more personal and interactive level, as well as share resources, knowledge and strategies necessary for reading. Students will have a place to read and succeed while getting the individual attention that they need. At this reading table my students will develop key concepts such as conventions of print, book handling skills, improving fluency, building comprehension skills and developing phomenic awareness - all while having fun! I want students to read for the love of it and having this table in my class will make reading meaningful and enjoyable.

    * Fulfillment Materials: This covers the physical costs of processing teacher and student thank-you letters and pictures, including printing, postage, labels, envelopes, cover sheets, etc.

** Payment Processing Fee: An average of fees charged to MyClassNeeds for processing donations (e.g. credit card payments through a secure server). We have worked hard to select the most secure option for the cost.

*** Optional Donation: An optional donation to support MyClassNeeds which is calculated at 15% of the project’s price tag. The optional contribution supports the work we do to engage teachers, build awareness, and to generally run MyClassNeeds. To do that we need a world- class website supported by strong business systems and processes that improve over time.

I am in my 10th year of teaching kindergarten and have loved every minute! It is such a great feeling when I see a student able to read a book, write a sentence, or even tie a shoelace. I believe that all students can reach their full potential when given a chance. My classroom is a ...
