Parent Council Engagement

Parent Councils exist under many different names across Canada: PACs (Parent Advisory Councils), SCC’s (School Community Councils), PICs (Parent Involvement Committees), SACs (School Advisory Councils), School Councils, and Home and School Associations – just to name the most common terms used. Here we use the term Parent Council as a catch-all to encompass all councils, associations and committees.

Parent Council members often have strong networks in the community, and can be great resources to help spread the word about your project.

Make it easy for your Parent Council to help. Feel free to share these tools with supportive partners:

Parent Council groups often organize and host fundraising events for school projects. Discuss the possibility of getting them involved in coordinating and hosting an event for your venture. At minimum, it will help raise awareness and perhaps spark interest in future projects you or your school may wish to pursue.
